If you are seeking for a quieter place to stay in Fenghuang Ancient Town, you either choose upper stream or lower stream for the night. I decided to get the lower stream after my research on different hotels and the condition to catch my very early train schedule on the next day. As a result, I got this one – Phoenix Youran Qingsu Hotel 鳳凰悠然輕宿（鳳凰古城店）
I got to talk with the boss while flying drone in the area. The boss, originally from Hubei, established his business here, while his wife is a local of the Miao ethnic group. He operated two hotels (image on the left and right). Apparently, quite a number of Hong Kongers stayed in this hotel. It’s not a peak period when I went there. The boss let us choose any rooms available that is facing towards the river. A very big upgrade from the boss.
You can request a free ride from the high-speed rail station to the hotel if needed.
Hotel Room
The room is very big and the view is fabulous. Hardly hear any noise from the mid stream. Store light and street light from outside are off at around 1am.
Nearby View
The actual real historic building is opposite of the stream. Around 20 minutes walk from the hotel. I didn’t manage to get there.
Car Park
A few car park slot (possibly around 6 – 7) available for visitors to park their vehicles. Advise requesting for reservation car park slot in case there are too many travellers self driving.
Nearby Food
Just a street away. There are multiple restaurants available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I recommend 宇隆湘菜馆. Quite a number of people chose this restaurant to my surprise, especially Hong Kongers. Possibly because its one of the rare restaurants serve food that is not oily.
I did not take any breakfast as we got to catch the train at 7.58am. We left early at 6.15am. The owner purposely woke up early to see us off.
Nearby Convenient Store
The nearest you can shop for snacks and drinks is possibly around the main area which is the middle of the stream.
How to book
I got this hotel via Trip.com, for average HK$240/room. The hotel received a lot of good comments, 9/10 reviews from the consumers. Peak season will be more expensive and you won’t get a free upgrade like I did.
