The Huitengxile Grassland itself has many accommodation options, most of them being modern Mongolian yurts. Quite a few of these lodgings had restaurants in it. A common issue, however, is the presence of ants and insects. If you’re looking for a cleaner option, the Matouqin Grand Tent Guesthouse is the best choice. Although it’s slightly more expensive than other yurts, it’s very comfortable to stay in. Inside, there are three sheep that guests can freely touch and play with—no extra payment required.

Room
I chose the larger double‑bed room. The room has heating, a private bathroom, and uses an electric water heater.

Food
Breakfast is included in the package. It’s usually simple dishes like porridge, eggs, and spicy noodles. Lunch and dinner can be ordered at the accommodation itself, or at restaurants in other lodgings. The accommodation also offers a traditional Mongolian feast (Zhama Banquet). If you want to add this option, you can pre‑order before checking in.

Campfire
Every night, almost all nearby accommodations start their evening parties around the same time, lasting about an hour. Guests can pay to join the activities, or buy similar items in nearby towns before heading to the grassland, which may be cheaper. The hotel owner personally pays for fireworks each night for the guests. When we stayed, every household received a free “Gatling” firework stick.

Costume rental
Within the accommodation, there is a partnered travel‑photography service. Renting clothes costs RMB 50 for two hours. Headpieces plus makeup (must be taken as a set) cost an additional RMB 100.
How to Book
On Trip.com, the double bed room package cost around HK$954/night.
