Dali tour and guesthouse separated into 4 parts.
The West stays near Dali Ancient Town,
The South stays near high speed rail station,
The East stays at Wenbi Village(文筆村)，
The North East stays at Shuanglang (雙廊鎮)
All 4 parts can stay near the Erhai lake.
Over 90% of Dali accomodation obtain at least 4.5/5 review. It takes us a long time to compare each accommodation.
Then we finally decide this one – The Still Nook, opened in the year 2026.
Rooms
Most of the rooms in the guesthouse faces toward the lake except one. 3 floors all together. Rooms on the ground floor also face towards the lake. We stay on the ground floor, the cheapest of all.
The single bedroom is much larger than the double bedroom. The single bedroom has a bigger window to look at the lake. The sofa inside can be used as a bed to sleep for one person with height around 173cm.
If you want to a better view, staying upstairs is a better choice. It costs around HK$200 more compared to the ground floor.
Breakfast
Self-made breakfast by the owner’s family. Limited varieties, with only bowl of mee xian (rice noodles), eggs, soya milk available. It’s not limited to one bowl per person so you can order another bowl or cup of soya milk if you want to. It’s free of charge.
You can get free coffee at the counter as well. The staff will make the coffee for you with the coffee machine. Coffee is only available during the day.
Car Park
If you are staying near the lake, you can only park the vehicle on the street. Reserve a slot just in case there is not enough spaces for you to park the vehicle.
Dinner Nearby
Wooden Barrel Fish 木桶鱼(青山店)
The nearest restaurant around the guesthouse. The wooden barrel fish (in hotpot/steam boat style) claimed to be their top dish to be ordered but it turns out it’s just nothing special.
If you are in a hurry to get dinner after going back to the guesthouse, this place can still be a choice but don’t expect it to be very tasty.
Hotpot mushroom and Firewood Chicken (坝坝味·养生菌柴火鸡)
Around 10 minutes walk from the guesthouse. Just my 2 cents that this one is better than the wooden barrel fish restaurant. It’s main dish sold mushroom as hotpot or fried chicken (not the KFC type) using wood right in front of you.
As a yogurt lover, the rose yogurt (last image) tastes like Bandung in Singapore hawker center. If you want to try out these yogurt, this restaurant possibly offers the lowest price of the drink – RMB11 / bottle.
If I were to travel to Yunnan next time, I will just stay at this guesthouse one whole day simply looking at the lake and do nothing.
