If you like animals like I do, and prefer getting very close up with animals. Chimelong Resort is the place for you to make a short trip from HKG.

Chimelong Resort has three separate places to visit. The new one is at Qingyuan. It is around 4 hours ride from Kowloon (HK) to Qingyuan (GZ, China). It is good for two days one night trip. (You can extend one more day to play at their water park located at the hotel area)

Below is the tour guide for you to get around the resort with details of booking the hotel and packages

Day 1

Arrival at 1 ~ 1.10pm
Check in. Leave baggage at the counter. Hotel will SMS your hotel room but foreigners without China number might not receive it. You need to go back to counter again to find out.

I saw food court located at hotel 1A/F and 2/F but I am unsure of the details. If you want a better view for lunch, you can go Point 1 to eat with giraffe and zebra. At point 2 you can eat with lions (meals are more expensive)

It takes 5 – 10 mins walk from hotel to the entrance, and another 10 – 20 mins walk to Point 1 (Giraffe restaurant). 5 more mins walk to Point 2 (Lion restaurant)

I suggest playing at Area A if you are having lunch over there on Day 1. You need to go reserve places for the train side at Area A. You may ask the staff to help you reserve the place if you do not have Wechat app to scan the QR code for reservation. QR code can be easily found along the way when you walk there.

Animals like hippo, rhino, owl can only be seen at the train journey. Journey takes 30 minutes ride.

Performance @4pm at the giraffe area about each Africa animal introduction and their origins. Language in Mandarin only. (Performance time may change)

Day 2

Entrance opens at 9.30am. After breakfast, you have enough time to finish Area B. A limited “passport” is available just few steps in front of the entrance at 10am for kids (only) to get sticker label around the resort.

Performance in the middle grass area at 11am about different birds introduction and their origin. Language in Mandarin only. (Performance time may change)

How to purchase and get there

1. Northbound Travel for HKers

I don’t advise purposely drive from HK to Qingyuan unless you got another plan along the way. You got to drive a big round from Zhuhai to Qingyuan which will cost at least more than 3 hours. Besides, Qingyuan Chimelong does not offer self-driving tour yet. Only GZ Chimelong offers such play style.

2. Package from Eternal East Travel Agency

Package include hotel rooms, 2/3 entrance tickets to the zoo, and return transport ticket from HK to Qingyuan Chimelong Resort. Currently, there is only one timeslot available to return from Qingyuan Chimelong Resort.

*Package does not include breakfast and dinner.
**The website is only available for Chinese language. If you are planning to get the package, you need to go retail stores directly for purchase.

3. Book transport and hotel rooms separately

There are two travel agency you can purchase transport tickets: Eternal East Travel Agency and TILChinaLink Travel Bus. Both only offer one timeslot to return HK.
Two online platforms available for hotel rooms and (breakfast and dinner) buffet: Klook and trip.com

I chose trip.com for hotel rooms with entrance ticket and get buffet tickets from Klook.

Special advise: It will be VERY crowded during statutory holidays in China. Schedule your trip wisely.
