All your 4 tyres pressure are fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of you may believe it&#8217;s the tyre pressure monitoring sensors issue. You decide to replace all four sensors without diagnosing the problems. However, the warning light is still on and the dealer told you that the other parts also needed to be replaced. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you ever wondered, it&#8217;s actually not the TPMS sensor issue?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is the list of issues that I have come across with no issues with the TPMS sensor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Case 1:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A customer vehicle TPMS warning light was on. He pumped in air according to the recommended air pressure by the car manufacturer and tried to reset the TPMS. However, the warning light cannot be reset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He came over planning to replace TPMS sensors but after diagnosis, all sensors are actually working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I helped him to pump in more than the recommended tyre pressure, and the warning light reset successfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s interesting to find out that some vehicle models recommended air pressure isn&#8217;t programmed as the minimum air pressure. At least it should program the minimum tyre pressure value slightly lower than the recommended tyre pressure. If modern vehicles experience such issues, owners should submit a request to change the ECU program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Case 2:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A customer vehicle TPMS warning light was on but after diagnosis, all sensors are working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The vehicle monitor showing the tyre pressure freezes. After pumping air and drive a whole day, the monitor still shows the same tyre pressure value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is either the ECU monitor or the receiving signal module has an issue. However, I do not have an advanced diagnostic tool to find out which one has the problem. It does not worth for me to purchase one just to find out the cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The issue arises after replacing a set of new tyres (somewhere else). He found it too coincidence that the TPMS issue happened just at the same time. However, if the store simply just replacing new tyres, then the problem is not caused by the tyre technicians. Afterall, the sensors are all working fine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Case 3:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A vehicle monitor shows that one of the sensors cannot be detected at first. The owner replaced the problematic one and the value shows again. However, problem comes back again the next day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owner replaced all four with original equipped sensors but warning light still on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I have no idea what had happened after next. But the sensors are not the cause of the TPMS warning light. Since the monitor still reflects the tyre pressure at first, ECU monitor issue can be excluded. That narrows down possibly one issue &#8211; the receiving signal module is spoilt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Last Case Sharing :<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A brand new vehicle manufactured in the year 2023. The monitor fails to show one of the tyre pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A car dealership center told the customer that there is a problem with the sensor. The reason is the ECU code and the sensor is not matched even though the sensor was once replaced by the center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sensor replace cost HK$1200 (without labor cost).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the customer approached me in an attempt to replace TPMS sensor, I stopped him and check the sensors. Found out that all 4 sensors are actually working perfectly. Only then I was told that the technician gave him such an absurd reason to convince him to replace a TPMS sensor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"739\" height=\"636\" src=\"https:\/\/tyrehood.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/program-c-code.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3910\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tyrehood.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/program-c-code.jpg 739w, https:\/\/tyrehood.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/program-c-code-300x258.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 739px) 100vw, 739px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Code inside ECU is similar to computer programming. Once the program code is executed and running, unless someone changes the code, the code inside the ECU will stay the same. That&#8217;s why it is nonsensical to say that the code is not matched. (No one changes the code inside ECU or the sensor)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ECU communication even in modern vehicles are still using binary data to transmit message. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This case is resolved at the end without spending any extra expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Further Note:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s not necessary to replace all four TPMS sensors. If one or more sensors run out of juice, replacing just that one will do the job to send the signal to resolve the TPMS light triggered on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other issues:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Monitor shows incorrect TPMS position<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Direct TPMS supposed automatically detected its position after tyre swapping. However, a particular EV model fails to update its position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One day, the monitor shows a tyre leak on the right front position but it turns out the leak is on the rear left.
