Kumho Tire Co., Inc. is a prominent South Korean tire manufacturer with a rich history and a global presence.

It was established in 1960 as Samyang Tire by Park In-chon. It later became part of the Kumho Asiana Group, a large South Korean conglomerate. The company is headquartered in Gwangju, South Korea.

Kumho Tire manufactures a wide range of tires for passenger cars, SUVs, trucks, and off-road vehicles. Their product lines include the Ecsta, Solus, and Crugen series, among others.

Kumho operates several manufacturing plants worldwide, including three in South Korea (Pyeongtaek, Gokseong, and Gwangju), three in China (Tianjin, Nanjing, and Changchun), one in Vietnam, and one in the United States (Macon, Georgia).

The company has three main R&D centers located in Gwangju (South Korea), Akron (Ohio, USA), and Birmingham (England). These centers focus on developing new technologies and improving tire performance.

Kumho Tire exports its products to over 180 countries and has a global network of sales organizations. The company supplies tires to major automotive manufacturers, including Hyundai, Mitsubishi, and Volkswagen.

Since 2018, Kumho Tire has been a subsidiary of the Chinese tire conglomerate Doublestar.
